For The Coil Project

Rewiring Eden Fringe guide blurb, 2019
Eve and Lilith have known each other since the old neighborhood. Now the kids are grown, Adam is long gone, and they’ve re-opened the long-neglected garden to women from myth, verse, and legend with their own stories to tell.

Strange Tales: Paradise Motel publicity blurb, 2018
The Paradise Motel: favorite flophouse of thieves, gangsters, and one-night stands. This Halloween season, the Coil Project presents strange tales from room 116, where traces remain of several murders, some profound weirdness, and a lot of very bad ideas. If these walls could talk… they’d scream. Join us for the next installment of the Coil Project’s annual Strange Tales Halloween anthology series. Your room is waiting.

Going Dark promotional blurb, 2017
Spring is here, and you know what that means: the Coil has cooked up another anthology of comedies to delight our loyal fans. But this year is a little different… because this year, we’re going dark. This time, we’re bringing you a comic anthology about the worst things in life. Grim? Sure. Hilarious? Totally. Giggle past the graveyard with us as we take a ride on the dark side. Like Will Rogers said, everything is funny as long as it’s happening to someone else.

Strange Tales III: Drive-in Double Feature promotional blurb, 2017
Slithering out of the shadows once again this Halloween, the Coil Project will take to the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s black box stage to horrify, scandalize, and generally freak out CHAW audiences in its fourth annual Halloween anthology. Strange Tales III: Drive-in Double Feature will pay tribute to the great traditions of grindhouse cinema, horror, and the drive-in movie. Two grim, gruesome one-act plays from Erica Smith and Andy De will be bookended by clever, creepy shorts by Michael Reilly. Join the Coil Project this Halloween for tales of murder, mutilation, and mayhem, only at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop.

It Will All Make Sense in the Morning Fringe guide blurb, 2016
When we were kids, my best friend Alastair banished my terrible dreams away. But nothing stays buried forever. Now, Alastair is battling his own demons. My nightmares stir in the darkness. They’re awake. They’ve gotten out. And they want me back.

Sea-Turtle Status and Trends: Integrating Demography and Abundance
The text of this iBook was written by one of our NAS staff writers; I developed the rest of the content and put it into iBook form.

Blogging

I maintained a lifestyle blog, Attic Rooms, for about a year between 2013-2014. My work situation — and the founding of The Coil Project — meant that I ceased to have free time to work on it, so it yielded to inertia, but the content provides a good example of my informal writing style.
